I decided to knit ornaments as a fundraiser for a local animal non-profit. My idea was a simple & quick item requiring small amounts of leftover yarn, something I could complete in an evening which allowed room for creativity. Keepsake Cats were born.
These kitties proved to be so popular that my original goal of knitting 50 has grown to several hundred. Knitter requests led to this detailed pattern with written instructions, basic charts, plus special charts for tuxedos, calico & Siamese cats. Instructions are included for circular & flat knitting, skinny & fat cats. Almost any weight yarn can be used.
My own fundraisers are knit in various worsted weight yarns with a finished height of 7" to 8" from ears to tail. Simple embroidery completes the facial features. A bow is woven through yarnover holes between the body & head. A hanging cord completes the ornament.
These make perfect gifts for cat loving friends, but also consider knitting a bunch as fundraisers for your local pet charity.
