This is a hat which was originally a basket I was making to use up some ribbon-type thread having done a quite a few bits of amigurmi which taught me how to make a flat hexagon base and a strong 90 degree change of direction to go up the side of something. This way of doing things seems to be everywhere, so I don't think it can be anyone's copyright. Anyway, I made the basket and was quite pleased with it, but when I showed it to my husband he said he'd like a hat like that, so I had to get more similar yarn and make another slightly larger without the handles for him to wear!
