When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you 6 feet of snow in 14 days, make a hat.
It made me so happy to work on this hat between bouts of shoveling snow. It's quick and easy - so knitting it during the storm meant that it was ready to wear the next day out in the snow!
The hat is pictured in Julie Asselin's Ankara Bulky, in her beautiful Tahiti colorway. I fell in love with the way the subtle pale pink/lavender highlights pair with the icy blue background. The mix of 85% merino and 15% mohair makes a super soft and smooshy skein to work with!
Staying with the winter theme, I used Barbara Walker's Snowflake Lace - just detailed enough to pop in the bulky yarn. I paired the lace with a deep brim, some simple crown shaping and about 2 hours next to the fire. The lace makes the hat very stretchy and fit my 11 year old, my teenager and me.
Alternative yarns are suggested but always check your gauge for a good fit.
