The Mona Lisa Illusion can hang on your wall or be the centre of a bed-covering as it is much bigger than the original painting. Photos cannot convey the WOW factor though illusion knitting is much easier than it looks.
When you look straight at the knitting you only see stripes. Mona Lisa, with her enigmatic smile, emerges as you start to move around.
The hanging shown measures 86 cm by 114 cm (34” by 45”). I used Stylecraft Special DK in Midnight and Cream (3 balls of each). I do knit very tightly though so yours may well turn out to be bigger.
The pattern includes several versions of the chart including one for use on phones and tablets.

- You can use any brand and thickness of yarn in two contrasting colours. Use needles slightly thinner than usually recommended for your chosen yarn.
