This gorgeous blanket was inspired by Nordic folk art. It is one complete pattern that doesn’t have any special stitches so is very suitable for mosaic overlay crochet beginners. Knowledge of basic crochet stitches is all that is needed. The pattern includes general instructions on mosaic overlay techniques and chart reading. It is available in both US and UK terminology (scroll down for UK terminology).
The pattern contains written instructions as well as several charts (with Xs). The chart is broken into sections suitable for printing and there is a complete chart for the whole pattern for use on a tablet.
It is 193 sts x 231 rows.
Any yarn can be used for this pattern. Use the recommended hook for the yarn. Size may change depending on yarn, hook size and tension.
When choosing yarn, it is important to choose contrasting colours so the design can be seen, such as light and dark tones.
