A lightweight and loose fitting, cap sleeved summer T-shirt for children aged 6mos-10y. Ideal for using up your left-over sock yarn, the bright, rainbow-striped peplum is worked flat in garter-stitch with a mitred bend. A tube is formed by seaming the ends of this flat piece, from which the main body is picked up and knit in-the-round with additional stitches cast on for the sleeves which have raglan shaping. Minimal purling is required for the rolled neck collar which is worked in short-rows. Neckline is wide and relatively shallow. Rolled cuffs are picked up and worked in an accent colour as a final touch.
Two alternative choices of yarn for hem/ collar and cuff are suggested with weights/ yardage. Pattern is written in full and is rated as moderately easy as it uses central (double) decreases and short-rows.
