My husband and I have a bit of a love affair with a part of France’s west coast, the province of Brittany. I used to spend three weeks there nearly every summer growing up, it was the destination of our honeymoon, and now that we live in England we take the ferry over whenever we can. What attracts me in Brittany’s coastline is that it is stunning in a more rugged, empty sort of way. The sea is steel grey, the beaches are small and hemmed in by tall dark cliffs and the weather is unpredictable, though not inhospitable, as it can be further north. There is something in those windswept skies that never fails to make me feel thoroughly happy – and, when I’m lacking some neckwear, cold.
This unpredictable weather, and the memory of some particularly beautiful sunsets inspired this scarf, which I’ve named for our latest vacation spot in Brittany. Knit with just one 100g. ball of DK weight yarn, it is the perfect accessory for a cool Breton evening, or any similarly cool evening
