Queen's 90th Birthday Tea Cosy

The Queen's 90th Birthday tea cosy was designed for the Simply Knitting Magazine issue 146 which went on sale on the 22nd April 2016.  I was delighted to be asked to design a Queen tea cosy for the Queens 90th Birthday celebrations. I have designed a regal looking Queen Elizabeth before so I wanted to design something a bit different and I tried to think what the Queen might be doing on her 90th birthday (or I was thinking what I'd be doing if I were the Queen)  Firstly I thought she's be wearing blue. It seems to be one of her favourite colours and she often wears a smart blue suit.  Obviously, I'd be having a nice cup of tea and a huge slice of birthday cake, a Victoria sandwich or should I say an Elizabeth sandwich?  I though she's probably have a party hat on her head for the day too and her corgis would be scampering about her feet begging for tip bits of cake.
