The Scottie Socks are colourwork socks, which would be good for an adventerous beginning to try. The charts are easy to read and do not involve the management of long floats. The socks have directions for knitting from the cuff down or the toe up, with a Wrap and Turn short row heel and a wedge toe, however an alternative heel and toe can be substituted. They are knit using the magic loop method but can be adapted to suit dpns.
The pattern has written instruction and charts for the colourwork.
