The Scottish Highlands Top is inspired by ancient Abbey ruins in Scotland and is worked top-down, seamless, and in the round. It uses some of the same design elements as the Scottish Highlands Shawl, added slight A-line shaping, and an angled hemline for a casual and flattering fit.
There’s a nice balance between stockinette stitch and lace work with an angled hemline and ¾ sleeves that could easily be made shorter (or longer). This lightweight top will be perfect for warmer weather and will look great worn over jeans, a skirt, or shorts.
This design will look great in any fingering yarn with good drape and stitch definition.
· This sweater is worked top-down and in the round, with short-row shaping to lower the front neckline.
· Yoke construction is a hybrid between circular and raglan for best fit and ease of making.
· Short rows make the hemline sides and back longer.
· Sleeves are top-down and in the round. Neckline and sleeves are finished in sleek I-Cord Bindoff.
