Baa, Baa, black sheep. Many of us learned this popular nursery rhyme as small children, and I wanted to include a little black sheep in each one of my hats.
This basic hat is a worsted weight watch cap knit on a 16" or Magic Loop circular needle. I used Red Heart Super Saver® for the samples. Separate instructions are included for three hat sizes, Toddler 1-3 Years, Child 4-12 Years and Medium Adult.
The embroidered sheep are done with duplicate stitch (also called knit embroidery), and the pattern assumes a knowledge of this technique. Complete charts with embroidery paths for the sheep are included. Small beads are used for the eyes, and a pompom tops off the hat.
