Shoulder Season

Shoulder Season, part of the Friluftsliv Cowl Collection, is worked top down in the round until the shoulders are bound off, and the front and back are finished flat. A heavily textured and brightly colored take on the traditional dickie, it can be worn under coats or alone when a little extra warmth is needed, in the “shoulder season.” All colorwork is mosaic or slipped stitches. There is no stranded colorwork and no seaming. There are three size options for the funnel neck to accommodate the wearer’s preferred ease, and the length easily can be extended. Choose size based on neck, not head, circumference. Recommended fit has 0-6" of positive ease. Shoulder Season is a gender inclusive pattern that may be knitted in a variety of fibers and colors to personalize the accessory for its recipient.

Friluftsliv is a Scandinavian term that translates to "open air living." I designed this cowl to brighten my outdoor hiking attire and bring a little bit of maker joy to my experiences in nature.
