This poncho is perfect for sticking in your bag for those moments when the sun comes out to play but its still not quite summer!
It is knitted flat (on straight or circular needles) and then seamed along the sides once the knitting is completed. The finished poncho measures 26” x 27” (66cm x 69cm).
Blocking is recommended to bring out the lace edging.
To make it you will need one ball of Scheepjes Whirl / Frosted Whirl or Ombre Whirl. It would be simple to extend the size by adding in Scheepjes Whirlette if you wanted a larger poncho.
If you don’t want to use Scheepjes Whirl, any fingering-weight yarn would work just as well though. You’ll need roughly 1000m of whichever yarn you choose.
It is a simple and quick knit and would be suitable for beginners who want to try their hand at a first garment. I’ve included links to tutorials I have written for how to complete the stitches in this pattern.
