A hat for cold weather, with lots of cables and a lace motif.
Size: One size fits an average adult head, the hat stretches very nicely due to alternating knit and purl stitches. The hat can be worked in two style options, beanie or slouch.
The size can also be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by changing the yarn weight and adjusting the needles accordingly.
Circumference: Approximately 51cm (20in) unstretched
Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. The hat is knit in the round. The pattern uses long-tail cast on, cables, eyelets and basic decreases.
Needle size and notions: US 6 / 4mm and US 7 / 4.5mm circulars or DPNs if you don’t like the magic loop method), some markers, a cable needle.
Gauge: 18 sts and 23 rows in stockinette with larger size needles. If necessary, adjust needle size to get the gauge.
Yarn suggested: any aran weight yarn that meets the gauge, approx. 60g for beanie and 80g for slouch.
