The hat is worked in a round in a spiral starting from the crown to the brim using a single crochet stitch. Start with a magic ring. Work in spirals, increasing in every round until you reach the desired diameter. The sides of the hat are then formed by crocheting evenly in spirals (with just a few increase rounds). For the brim, gradually increase stitches to create the outward flare.
