You could use any yarn and any hook you fancy.
I used Drops Light (Cotton and polyester mix) I used 13 balls in total on a 3.5mm hook.
All you need is: Yarn A crochet hook fitting to your chosen yarn ( I tend to go .5mm hook size down from the recommended just purely for a tight more defined stitch) Scissors Darning needle Stitch marker
And a cuppa tea and your ready to start!
