Trenton Hat

Some time ago, we were invited to a birthday party for our daughter in law's nephew, and I asked what he would like for his birthday. After some discussion back and forth we settled on a knitted hat made in his school colors, and I created a new hat pattern. Because I wanted to make it abundantly clear that this was his own hat, knitted especially for him, I knitted his name on the inside of the double brim (since it's no longer considered safe to have a child's name on the outside of their clothing). At the party when he opened the gift, he immediately put the hat on and wore it for the remainder of the party, so I am pretty certain that he liked it!
