The Umlaut Beanie is a very quick knit (it usually takes 30 mins – 2 hrs to complete), perfect for keeping you warm. You can start knitting in the morning and have it ready for an afternoon walk!
Whether using super bulky wool or multiple strands of scrap yarn held together, this is a great project for beginners as well as more experienced knitters looking for a quick and simple hat design. The pattern is written for 5 sizes (newborn baby to large adult), and is colour coded to help you keep track of sizing. For more details see the size chart provided with the photos, along with yardage approximations.
Yarn: You can use super bulky weight yarn OR hold multiple strands of thinner yarn together - I achieve tension with four stands of chunky yarn, but feel free to experiment with different with different combinations of yarn weight!
Techniques: long-tail cast on, 1x1 rib, stocking stitch in the round, k2tog, working in the round.
Tension: 7 sts x 10 rounds to 10 cm over st-st in the round.
