Warren Creek Cowl

Warren Creek winds its way through northern Durham near my house. The creek is now obscured by houses and apartment buildings, and it’s invisible from the bridges crossing it unless you know where to look. When a storm hits, however, the little creek turns into a rush of water flowing through the urban sprawl.

This bulky (or super bulky) cowl is knit on the bias. The diagonal bands of lace represent the bridges under which the creek, shown with ridges of garter, passes on its way to meet the Eno River. The smallest cowl takes only a skein of super bulky yarn, but even the largest version is a quick knit on giant needles.

Sizes Short Super Bulky: 39 inch [99cm] circumference, 6 inches [15cm] deep. Long Bulky: 55 inch [140cm] circumference, 5.5 inches [14cm] deep. Long Super Bulky: 64 inch [163cm] circumference, 6 inches [15cm] deep.
