I love Alpaca's! They're cute and provide wonderful yarn from their fleece. This pattern is named after the Alpaca that provided the yarn and because the cable pattern reminds me of the leafy branches that hang down from the tree of the same name!
Ladies or men's fingerless mitts knit using 1 skein of 100% Natural, Undyed, Sport Weight Alpaca yarn from Five Oaks Farm. This yarn has 175 yards per skein and can be purchased directly at www.etsy.com/fiveoaksfarm. Or, you may use any sport weight yarn that will give you a comparable gauge.
This is an easy cable pattern that can be shortened or lengthened depending on what length you want your mitts to be.
You will also need a cable needle, 2 stitch markers, stitch holder or length of scrap yarn, and a tapestry needle.
