Introducing: Rivoli yarn and patterns
Published on 12 March 2019 By Meg 3 min readIf you love buttersoft silk, glorious merino, and irresistibly fine alpaca you will simply melt when you meet the new yarn, Rivoli Sport, from The Yarn Collective.
The exclusive collaboration with knitwear designer, Nadia Crétin-Léchenne and The Yarn Collective, Rivoli Sport comes in a dazzling array of 10 shades curated by Nadia. Inspired by famous paintings, the exquisitely feminine colours, take us to an artistic paradise. Dream in René Storm and Suzanne Green, swoon for Henri Plum and Auguste Pink, and shine with Amedeo Sienna and Vincent Yellow.
We can't pick a favourite, it's like walking through a gallery of wonderful artworks and being swept up into a kaleidoscope of colour. We're waxing lyrical but just wait until you get your hands on them - you'll do the same!
Knitwear designer, Nadia Crétin-Léchenne describes the inspiration behind the collection:
"Whenever I get the chance to visit a museum or a gallery, I'm all in. I'm fascinated by the use of colours in paintings, how it can reflect emotions and give life. How the painter was able to associate them in ways I would never have imagined. So naturally when I was thinking about the colours of the Rivoli range, I thought about paintings.”
I like to think that yarn speaks to me, it tells me what it wants to become."
Known for their fabulous yarns and patterns, The Yarn Collective love to work with designers and give them a chance to be part of the yarn and pattern design process from the very beginning. Nadia said of the process:
“Choosing the yarn, the colours, and the materials is almost always the first step for me. I like to think that yarn speaks to me, it tells me what it wants to become. That's was the most exciting part about my collaboration with The Yarn Collective. For the first time in my life, I was given the chance to help create a whole range of yarn. Developing the colours from their earliest stage and seeing them come to life was utterly exciting.”
Along with these silky smooth yarns, the Rivoli collection features three delectable patterns designed by Nadia. The Louvre Sweater, the Petit Palais Shawl, and the Orsay Shawl, are three women’s knitting patterns inspired by the fine art gallery they are named after.
The Louvre
The Louvre Sweater is a cosy knit, made to be oversized and comfortable. The geometric print on the front is a cheeky nod to the Louvre Pyramid, which the museum is infamous for.
The Petit Palais
The Petit Palais is a beautifully detailed building, which is reflected in the shawl that shares its name. With delicate lace work and stitch detailing, the Petit Palais Shawl is a wonderful addition to your WIPs.
The Orsay
The Orsay Shawl is a perfect blending of modern and classic. This classic looking design is created using modern stitches including garter stitch. With the use of bright and bold colours, this piece knits up into a shawl-lover’s dream.
