Designers of the month - January
Published on 15 January 2019 By Emma 2 min readJanuary is here and the dark days are already whizzing by in this new year. We love to celebrate our community by sharing our top designers every month, so before the month disappears altogether let us introduce you to Melody Hoffman, Ella Gordon and Minttu.
Melody Hoffman
Melody Hoffman's patterns are cool, calm and elegant. A French girl living in Latvia, her designs echo the gorgeous colors and shapes of the landscape around her, whether it be her Treehouse Mitts or this beautiful Aito shawl.
Aito Shawl
The Aito shawl is knitted in natural tones with a pretty repeat that creates a gorgeous patterned shawl.
Komori Cardigan
Another nature knitting pattern, her Komori Cardigan design was inspired by her all time favorite movie: Little Forest. In particular a scene where the main protagonist goes in the forest to forage for chestnuts.
Ella Gordon
Knitter, blogger and designer, Ella's patterns are immediately recognizable for their Fair Isle styling and beautiful colors. Living in Shetland she has some incredible yarn heritage to draw from and you can see her love for her craft and materials in her work.
Ola Yoke
This Ola Yoke Sweater is inspired by Ola’s Ness, an area located near to her Grandads Croft in Northmavine and is too dreamy for words!
Tveir Fingerless Gloves
Using a similar tree motif, the knitting pattern for these gorgeous fingerless gloves would be a great introduction to anyone wanting to learn how to master the art of Fair Isle knitting. Made using Jamieson's of Shetland yarn will give you a truly authentic knitting experience.
Pawlymade
Minttu is an Finnish designer working under the name Pawlymade. With her amazing eye for design and adorable children's knits she has some knitting patterns that we just can't resist.
Milla's Sweater
This design celebrates Minttu's children's book called 'Milla Marble and the Mystery of the Missing Grandma' and is almost too cute for words! This sweater uses intarsia techniques to recreate some of the fabulous illustrations in yarn.
Who's There & Bearly Pillow
Who's There and the Bearly Pillow are another two patterns of Skandi perfection. The little intarsia children's sweater pattern comes in sizes from 1 year up to 8 years, and could happily be worn by a boy or a girl. The same goes for the bearly pillow which would look just as amazing in a playroom as it would on your couch.
