Product Details

Knit on straight needles, this hat is easy enough for a beginner, but features options which allow every knitter to become a designer. The pattern begins with a basic classic watch cap (with or without fold-up ribbed border), and includes earflap options to add visual interest and warmth. Add stripes, a knit/purl combo, cable or lace pattern for the body and you'll have a hat that's uniquely your own.

You'll make decisions along the way. Do you want earflaps? If so, moss or garter stitch earflaps can attach above or below the ribbed border. Your earflaps can have an I-cord tie, or button up when not in use.

What body pattern would you like? There are 15 from which to choose (including stockinette, knit/purl combinations, slip stitches, laces and cables.) Each body pattern includes written instructions, a chart and photo.

Will you top it off with an I-cord, pompom, or leave it plain? You're the designer!

This is a pattern you can use for years to come, with no two hats being exactly alike.

Notes
You can choose any worsted yarn with a gauge of 17 stitches = 4" (4.25 stitches = 1"). I selected Red Heart because of the large color selection.
