Product Details
Ningyo is ispired by the Japanese equvivalent of mermaids. The Ningyo had bodies like a fish and faces like monkeys or humans, but they were not as pretty as the European mermaids. They were described as ugly-pretty with pleasant voices. If you ate the meat from a Ningyo you would have longevity, but at the same time you would be prone to difficulties and accidents. One of the most known legends tell the story of Yao Bikuni, who as a child was gifted meat from a Ningyo from her father. He didn’t consider the problems this might cause for her, because he got drunk on a party were the meat was served. Yao Bikuni survived several husbands and ended her life as a buddhist priestess, 800 yars of age.
This yarn in this top is a mix of wool and silk. It is knitted in the round, bottom up, and is fitted at the waist. It has a narrow front and razer back. The pattern is a traditional lace pattern, called fish tail.
