Product Details

A Symbol of Health Cowl Pattern is a cowl designed to sit tighter on the face to better protect from the cold, and can be worn similar to a bandana or mask. The cowl can be knit loser or tighter simply by adding/reducing the number of stitches on either side of the Chinese Symbol of Health, which was designed to be worn in the middle of the face/neck.

This is the lightweight version, using fingering weight yarn (see my Worsted version on this site). In the example shown, the cowl was knit with a solid black background and a color changing contrast yarn. The pattern has written instructions, as well as a chart, for the easiest knitting experience. It is worked flat and the mattress stitch was used to seam the sides together, making this a fairly easy knit for those knitters just being introduced to color work.

Grab your needles, your favorite lightweight yarn and color choices, and your favorite beverage and enjoy this knitting journey!
