Allegheny Plateau Cowl

The Allegheny Plateau is a large dissected plateau area in western and central New York, northern and western Pennsylvania, northern and western West Virginia, and eastern Ohio. The Catskills (The Blue Mountains of the North), lie along the plateau. Herego, the name. The Allegheny Plateau Cowl came about after looking at this huge pile of contrasting colored yarn left over from making The Blue Mountains of the North sweater. I couldn’t bear not to use it as it is incredible yarn.

• This cowl is worked in the round, from one side to the other. • The cowl is constructed by knitting seven sections (each section works directly into the next). • The pattern is written for worsted weight yarn. O wool Local very much knits like a heavy worsted, which is why there is a 4.5 st/inch gauge on size US 9 needles. • Mosaic + slip stitch knitting. Twisted stitches are also used. • 3 charts are used in the knitting of the pattern. Written + charted directions are included.
