The Alternating Diagonals dishcloth pattern is a great choice for practicing your knit and purl stitches. New knitters often email me asking my opinion on which dishcloth patterns are best for the beginner. To that question, I always choose stitch patterns that have a good balance between the knits and purls; the Alternating Diagonals dishcloth has just that. I believe it’s a great way to learn to bring your yarn back, for the knits and bringing the yarn forward to purl. Also, I love how the Stockinette stitches pop while the Reverse Stockinette recedes into the background.
The Alternating Diagonals pattern repeat is included in the pattern. I try to provide that info to encourage you to get creative and use the pattern stitch to work up a few other items.
♥ As are all my knitting patterns; this pattern has been test knit twice and both professionally copy and tech edited for accuracy. I am happy to help. You can always contact me if you have any questions along the way.
