Product Details

The Icelandic wool of Alafosslopi is amazing; it’s warm and even withstands rain. However it’s also quite itchy and that’s where I got the idea of combining it with soft superwash wool for the collar, cuffs and buttonband. Large areas of warmth combined with softness against the skin.

This coat is worked top-down starting with casting on Alafosslopi yarn. It starts at the collar with raglan increases to shape the top. Then sleeves are separated and the body is worked, including hip shaping and pocket holes, and finished by a tubular bind off. Collar, sleeves, pockets and pocket lining as well as button/zipper bands are added by picking up stitches.

Collar, inner button band and sleeve finishes are worked in soft superwash yarn, to prevent itching.

You will use two yarns that are very different; the bulky Alafosslopi and a soft superwash DK/worsted yarn. Note in the yardage table that MC yardage varies a lot more than CC yardage with size.
