Product Details

Banana Daiquiri uses a modular technique to create a handbag cleverly formed from triangles knitted off each each other to form a hexagon. The modular technique makes it easy to knit and portable, adding on as you go. A foldover flap that closes with an i-cord button, and a gusset that does double duty as a strap add practicality, so you can actually use this purse. The textures really play off the directional knitting, and the hexagon shape of this purse looks great in a variety of yarn weights and textures. Gauge is not critical, just creating a firm fabric. I love the clean lines of a tape yarn as shown on the cover, but I've also tried this pattern in a boucle and I even knitted one up in wool and then felted it. Use a hand-dyed or self-striping yarn if you don’t want to fuss with color changes, or raid your stash. Add extra rows to the gusset for a crossbody bag (don't forget to make sure you have enough yarn). This design really is a blank canvas for your creativity.
