Product Details
The shawl is named after a basilisk because before blocking it looked like a very long basilisk tail. The picots added to the impression, and only an anchor at the end was missing.
The shawl is started at one end of the wing tip with a few stitches and the volume is built up by increasing at one side. The picot border on each side is ‘knit as you go’.
The pattern is easily adjustable in size by adding more repeats of the lace stitch pattern to make it wider and/or by working more repeats of the main pattern to add more volume. The bigger the shawl, the less regular the triangle, with bind-off side getting shorter in proportion to lace side.
Any yarn from lace to DK weight will look good on the shawl.
