The colours are what inspired me for this pattern. I loved watching the cowl come together because the way the stitch and the colours work together make it almost look like candy. The headband was partly born out of frustration that most headband patterns I've encountered are too thin and don't cover my ears properly so I've made sure this one is nice and wide and lays flat, despite cable work, with the help of a sturdy border. But no squishiness or warmth was sacrificed, the textures of the pattern make this headband super cosy.
This pattern is suitable for advanced beginners and intermediate knitters. The headband is more advanced than the cowl but the more difficult techniques are demonstrated with the help of photos so it is a good learning pattern. The key techniques used are: in-the-round knitting, the Eye of Partridge stitch, cabling, the Blackberry stitch. Instructions are also available for putting in a lifeline and for a double-coloured long-tail cast-on.
