Product Details
These mittens are worked from cuff to fingertip, then the thumb is worked using short rows that create a gusset like fit without having to have set up the gusset stitches while working the hand. This method fits amazingly well, and is great to use with handpainted or self striping yarns, as the thumb won’t mess with the colour patterns, or while knitting away from home as no scrap yarn or stitch holders are needed. This pattern is written for bulky yarn, making a quick, warm mitten that is great for gifts, but the thumb is easily substituted into any other mitten pattern at any gauge.
Difficulty level: easy Skills necessary: Working stockinette both in the round and flat. k2tog Picking up stitches Being able to knit 2 mittens at a time is an asset, but not necessary for this pattern.
