May is probably not the perfect month to knit a hat. But this pattern just felt irresistible which is why I would like to share it with you! The colors remind me of some of my favorite fruits (which can be found in my garden in May): sweet strawberries and sour cherries. When I get to the crown I never really have plan, it's always a big surprise!
I used a wonderful speckled yarn, made by Walkcollection as my main color and a semisolid yarn by Malabrigo as a contrasting color. This pattern actually came up by coincidence, when I was trying to find a way to increase two central stitches... but I am more than happy how it worked out!
The hat has a brim, is very stretchy, slightly slouchy and well-fitting at the same time. The pattern has only six repeating pattern rows and is based on basic brioche stitches, increases and decreases. It's important to note that there is no 4-stitch-decrease to be knit. You can do it, knitters!
