Product Details

A basic poncho is easy to knit - just 2 rectangles stitched together on 2 sides. This pattern takes it a step further, adding a deep front pocket, neckline finish and armhole cuffs.

The poncho features panels of seed stitch, cable and stockinette. Design your own by choosing from 5 different cables and 4 neckline finishes.

A poncho is not a fitted garment - the same one can fit a range of sizes. This pattern has 2 sizes. Small fits bust sizes 30"-36". Medium fits bust sizes 36"-40". There's an overlap in the size range, depending on how snug you'd want it to fit, or if you'll be wearing it over a heavy sweater.

I prefer plain plied yarns for cables, letting stitch patterns provide the textural interest. I've deliberately used readily available inexpensive Red Heart Super Saver yarn for the samples, showing a striking garment can be make without great cost. For a luxurious garment, more expensive fibers like wool, alpaca, cashmere, etc. with a gauge of 16 sts = 4"/10cm can be substituted.
