Product Details
This hat and scarf set is suitable for men, women and children. The blocks of 2/2 cabled rib are held snugly together between 6 rows of garter stitch, producing a dense and warm fabric that's almost identical on both sides.
The scarf can be knit to any width or length you desire. Yarn requirements are given for a 6" width by 6' length, but can be shortened for a small adult or child. The pattern also includes 4 hat sizes from Child to XL Adult.
The mini-cables are knit directly on your straight needle, without need for a cable needle. To make a C1R (cross 1 stitch to the right), knit the second stitch on your lefthand needle, then knit the first stitch -- and slip both stitches to your righthand needle. (Written instructions are in the pattern.)
Choose any Medium #4 Worsted/Aran weight that will give you a gauge of 19 stitches per 4"/10cm. I used Lion Brand Pound of Love in the samples.
