This fun, quick cowl is similar to the Gap's popular two-toned waffle cowlneck. My version gets its name from a waffle like stitch on one side and the “bird foot” like pattern on the reverse side. Worked up in a bulky weight and a worsted weight yarn in complimentary colors, the cowl drapes softly with a snuggly, squishy texture. The cowl is worked in the round using a circular needle. Even though it looks like it is created by using a stranded technique, only one yarn is worked in each round.
This pattern uses terms and abbreviations as established by Nancy Marchant at www.briochestitch.com and in her fantastic book, [Knitting Brioche] (book).
