This Christmas all of my girls will have their own places for the first year and they are all busy trying to collect affordable decorations to make their homes look festive. My contribution to their celebrations are these jolly stockings, which I'm knitting frantically to cater for all of the family members concerned! Based on a pattern which I first knit in 2004, these stockings are a seasonal favourite in our house. They have been used to decorate the Christmas tree, to hang as a garland across the hearth and, of course, to receive that first special gift from Santa - the one which he delivers to the end of the bed in the middle of the night! They are really quick and fun to make, with clever wrapped stitch shaping (with full and clear instructions in the pattern as to how to achieve a joint-less look) and simple directions which make this an ideal project for knitters of any level.
