It's the yarn that's chunky -- and not necessarily the guy -- in this perfectly proportioned classic beanie.
The pattern offers four sizes: Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large for head circumferences of 21, 22, 23, 24 in./53, 56, 58, 61 cm.
The Chunky Guy uses yarn (#5 Bulky) with a recommended crochet gauge of 10 sc = 4 in./10 cm. You may also use two strands of light worsted weight yarn held together.
The pattern provides links for technique tutorials and stitch definitions for new crocheters. The written instructions use U.S. crochet abbreviations.
