Product Details
Colors in Search of an Exit is a open, airy crescent shaped shawlette in easygoing garter stitch with eyelets on the edges. The shawl is worked sideways from tip to tip with short rows to form the colored wedges, which in turn create a pretty crescent shape. Key design features are the purl bumps of one color overlapping with the next on the right side as opposed to the wrong side of the shawl and the eyelets bordering each of the wider colored wedges; just enough variation in shape and color to keep things interesting in this otherwise straightforward knit. You’ll need three of your favorite colors in fingering weight for this shawl. I picked three hand-dyed semi-solids, but any combination that catches your fancy would look wonderfully.
A note on gauge: A key feature of this scarf is the open, almost lace-like, quality of the garter stitch. This is achieved by working the fingering weight yarn on larger needles, creating fairly open stitches that are opened up further by block
