Crochet Wrap Pattern: Really Racy Ruana

I really do like this ruana. It is very versatile and can be worn in several different ways -- crossed in the front, open in the front, or one front panel over the shoulder. It fits a lot like a poncho, except that it is open in the front. As you can see from the photos, it has a beautiful drape in the back and all around. 

This ruana is worked as one continuous piece, and then the “arches” rows are added onto each of its two outer edges. The ruana’s main body is comprised of wrapped double crochet stitches and “ribbed” rows. The ribbed rows are comprised of half double crochet stitches worked in back loops only. Detailed photos and instructions explain the wrapped double crochet stitches, just in case you are not familiar with them. They are not difficult. The rows of “arches” on the ruana’s outer edges consist of rows that combine chain spaces and single crochet and rows that combine double crochet and single crochet. Some of these rows are also worked in back loops only.
