Product Details
This pattern is a great introduction to shawl knitting and a fun and very wearable shape. It combines a simple 4 row textured pattern repeat with 3, 8 row lace sections. Knitted on 4mm needles it knits up quickly. It's ideal for any 4 ply yarn and lends itself to lovely hand dyed yarns.
This shawl is named for, and inspired by, Derwentwater in the Borrowdale Valley of the Lake District. The main stitch pattern creates a ripple like effect reminiscent of the effect of wind on the water of the lake, although it can sometimes be a lot choppier. The lace evokes the peaks of the Lakes, including those that rise from the banks of Derwentwater itself.
