Dragon Rider's Baby Blanket

This was designed for a member of my bookclub who was expecting their first child, and as I was working the pattern, I realized the texture began to resemble scales. As a writer and avid reader of fantasy novels, it didn’t take long for dragons to come to mind!

This blanket is worked flat. The width is customizable by adding multiples of 12 to the Scales Repeat. I used a baby friendly acrylic for easy washability (and who knows if the baby would be allergic to wool. I didn’t want their first gift from me to be something they couldn’t use!), but I think it would look lovely in a soft merino or a material with a sheen! My go-to was KnitPicks Brava 500 and I used all 1000 yards to make this 38 in by 42 in blanket. Obviously if you’d like a larger blanket, please plan your yardage accordingly.
