This cowl was inspired by a skein of I Love Driftwood Yarn by Fuse Fiber Studio. Rebecca, the amazing dyestress, was inspired by the signature colors used by our LYS, Driftwood Yarns of Groton, CT. With all those oceanic references and colors, I too was inspired and hunted for a lace pattern that would evoke the briny deep and show off this fabulous yarn, thus the Lace Eyelets and Waves pattern. The wrong side of the pattern was perfect! Yes, the wrong side, and it was written for flat knitting too. I converted the wrong side to knitting in the round and also created two stitches to get that wavy look. I call the resulting lace pattern: Cresting Waves.
This cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up, beginning and ending with a rolled edge that compliments the lacy cresting waves. Instructions are given for 3 sizes in order to make a cowl that is tall and snuggly, double wrapped, or extra-long. Instructions are written, and a chart is included for the Cresting Waves Lace.
