Emergency Vehicles

Knit a trio of emergency vehicles for playtime fun: a fire engine, ambulance and police car. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, each vehicle is knitted in garter stitch in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). For advanced beginner and intermediate knitters, the body of each vehicle is knitted using short row shaping in garter stitch. The wheels knitted separately and sewn on after making up, and the window struts are embroidered in chain stitch. The light bars and ladders on top of the vehicles are i-cord tubes worked on two DPNs. Other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and seaming plus embroidery decoration to finish. The ambulance is 17cm long, fire engine 19cm long, and police car 14cm long.
