Botanical name: Dianella Revoluta
These cute wee flowers bring a delicious splash of colour to the evergreen Dianellas. Found in every state of Australia except the Northern Territory, they flower in Spring and Summer.
Construction:
These flowers are created with basic knitting techniques; casting on and off and knitting. The styles are made from lengths of felted yarn. Basic hitch knots such as kids use to make friendship bracelets are used to created the peduncle.
The leaves are constructed using simple decreases and slippped stitchs and look best when made in masses.
Yarn and yardage:
Flowers use a small amount of green, purple/blue and yellow DK weight yarn.
Stems will vary depending on length. Sample used 12 yards/11 metres.
Each flower uses approximately 10 yards/9 metres. Leaves: approximately 40 yards/36 metres.
