Product Details
The impetus for this design was the stitch pattern that forms its decorative edge. Its resemblance to a lotus led me to research the plant and to learn that it is one of a small number of flowering plants that disperse their pollen through water, a process called hydrophily.
This pattern can be used to knit a shawl in any size desired, from shawlette to large wrap, and can accommodate any amount of yarn. The sample was knit with one 100 g skein of light fingering weight and a set of light fingering weight mini skeins. Small leftovers could be used in place of the mini skein set. The pattern repeat is such that the shawl can be finished at any point by binding off at the conclusion of a repeat, making it easy to customize to your preferences or the amount of yarn you have.
This pattern uses kfb (knit front and back) and yarnover increases and slipped stitches. A photo tutorial is included for the decorative stitch used in the edging.
This pattern has been professionally tech edited.
