On Christmas day, an idea struck me. I have been playing with Jacob's Ladders for years now, and had often thought it would be neat to be able to do them horizontally. That festive day, how to do Jacob's Ladders horizontally hit me. My family was quite understanding about my need, first to sketch, and then to grab some yarn and try it out.
A member of my Ravelry group suggested that it could make a really neat coaster pattern, and so, here we are.
This pattern is a quick, and hopefully fun way to learn how to do Jacob’s Ladders horizontally while making something that is quite functional.
One fun, accidental, feature this coaster has is that if you size it well, it will hug the bottom of a wine glass. You could make them in different colours and use them as combination coaster/wine charm.
Watch for more patterns using this technique in the future!
This is not a beginner pattern.
There is a photo tutorial for how to do the ladder round.

- Notes
- It is helpful to have a larger crochet hook on hand to help with laddering up. I used an 8mm hook for this.
