Product Details

The pattern is intermediate level: you need to know how to work stockinette and garter stitch, k2tog, ssk, m1 in both knit and purl, cast on stitches at the end and in the middle of a row, and sew seams. Most of the pieces are knit flat and them assembled (the cardigan has sleeves which can be knit in the round). Although it sounds complicated, the toy is fun to make, and a good way to learn or practice your knitting skills.

The Kangaroo is about 10" tall when finished, and has a little pocket for the joey. The Joey is a finger-puppet, which makes it fit easily in the pocket, and is extra fun for kids to play with. The Cardigan has 3 variations: sleeveless, sleeves knit in the round, or sleeves knit flat (the second two look the same when finished). You can also place buttons just on the yoke, or down the whole front.

The pattern sample was knit with Berroco Vintage for the toy, and Blue Sky Alpacas Royal Petites for the cardigan.
