Product Details
I use this cowl pattern with my new knitters when they move to my After Beginning Knitting class at my local library. It’s a step up that provides new techniques without overwhelming them, and they garner a beautiful new cowl when they’re done.
This easy-to-knit cowl is perfect for a beginning knitter to stretch their new skills by incorporating different texture stitches into each section. Use 4–8 colors in fingering or worsted weight and work each section for as long as you like.
Using mini-skeins or leftover fingering-weight yarn, this cowl is a delightful representation of the wearer in their favorite colors or provides a colorful pop to brighten a neutral clothing palette. Try knitting it with gradient mini-skein kits to beautiful effect; turning the cowl on end will make the striping pattern look just like books on a library shelf.
Worsted weight version now included!

This is a great pattern for getting rid of all those part balls of worsted/ aran weight yarn left from previous projects. And the end result makes a beautifully textured cowl.
