Product Details
Kotelny Island is located in the Artic Ocean, north of Siberia. It is inhabited, covered with ice and snow. Some spots of vegetation appear here and there. This shawl structure has been designed in reference of the last winter days, before the coming of spring in this Nordic area.
The lace pattern reminds the snowflakes. Whilst snow covers the rippling hills, green lines of conifers appear here and there. Winter is about to finish. The melting snow is revealing trees and announces spring. Irreversibly, life emerges and burst through edging little buds.
Starting with a garter tab cast on, Kotelny gradually develops in garter stitch section, followed by an easy lace stitch from which a green line emerges. At the edge the bind off is worked with small buds. The increases are more numerous on the sides to benefit from long wings without the tip falling too low.
It is worked on US 2½ / 3 mm at 24 stitches and 40 rows over 4 inches / 10 cm, washed and blocked.
